A Year Later: Silence Speaks Louder Than Words
Hey there, it’s been some time, but we’re back with something special!
Last year, we launched THE KILOS PROJECT (TKP) with a night that celebrated health & fitness through art, music, and dance—a unique fusion that many of you experienced first hand. For those who joined us, your curiosity and openness made that evening unforgettable! We gathered with purpose, not just to celebrate, but to deepen our connection to the creative process, where nothing is coincidence, and everything is purposeful.
At TKP, our mission is simple: Train. Recover. Create. These three actions are at the heart of everything we do. Through fitness, design, and the creative process, we explore how health is not just a physical state, but a dynamic, creative journey that shapes both our lives and our work.
Every event we create reflects this philosophy, and this January, we’re excited to present In Pursuit of Silence—a film that explores the power of silence and the impact of noise on our well-being. Much like our approach to personal growth, this film asks us to reflect on how we experience the world around us and encourages us to find space for clarity, creativity, and connection.
“Half visual essay, half verbal investigation, “Silence” is thoughtful and informative as well as contemplative and restorative. It both tells you why you perhaps yearn for silence and shows you what it would look like if you could find it.“
–Kenneth Turan | Los Angeles Times
In Pursuit of Silence is a meditative exploration of our relationship with silence and the impact of noise on our lives. Patrick Shen is a filmmaker and founder of Transcendental Media, best known for his award-winning documentary In Pursuit of Silence. Released in 150+ theaters worldwide, the film explores the profound and elusive nature of silence, inviting audiences to reflect on the impact of our fast-paced world and the importance of stillness. With its deliberate pacing and meditative rhythm, In Pursuit of Silence mirrors the very principles that guide The Kilos Project: finding balance between action and stillness, creation and recovery.
Shen’s approach to filmmaking is deeply rooted in his belief that silence and reflection are essential to understanding the human experience. His past work has been featured in outlets like CNN, The New York Times, and The Washington Post, and presented at major film festivals, museums, and universities worldwide. Beyond his filmmaking, Patrick teaches documentary production at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and has mentored filmmakers globally through initiatives like the Sundance Institute and the U.S. State Department’s American Film Showcase.
At the heart of In Pursuit of Silence is an invitation to slow down, to pause, and to reconnect. Shen’s work not only challenges our understanding of silence but also aligns closely with the mission of this event, offering a powerful reminder of the need to cultivate stillness in our lives.
